Mercedes-Benz CLA EV—186 Miles of Range in Just 10 Minutes of Charging

Mercedes-Benz is set to unveil what may become its most significant electric vehicle in the coming months—the 2026 CLA EV. Built on the new MMA platform, this entry-level EV will stand apart from models like the EQE and EQS.

Mercedes-Benz claims the CLA EV can achieve 186 miles of range in just 10 minutes of fast charging at a peak power of 320 kW. Starting from a 10% state of charge, this equates to approximately 36 kWh of energy. A charge from 10% to 80% will take less than 22 minutes. The car will also include an 11.0 kWh onboard charger for Level 2 AC charging.

Additionally, the CLA EV excels in handling challenging road conditions, thanks to its enhanced control system. This system monitors the vehicle's dual motors, enabling smooth and safe driving on steep or slippery roads, whether starting from a standstill or progressing steadily.

MG's Semi-Solid-State Battery EV—Over 1,000 Kilometers of Range

MG, originally a British car brand now owned by China's SAIC Motor, is set to release its first electric vehicle featuring semi-solid-state battery technology in 2025. According to MG's General Manager Zhou Xing, this EV will achieve a range of over 1,000 kilometers on a single charge.

Regulatory documents from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center confirm that the IM L6 Lightyear Edition will come with a 123.7 kWh semi-solid-state battery pack, delivering 1,002 kilometers of range based on the CLTC cycle. For a vehicle starting at approximately AUD 74,400 and featuring a dual-motor AWD system with a total power output of 540 kW, this is an impressive feat.

The battery, developed by Quntou Energy with backing from SAIC Motor, is now being integrated into mass-production models like the IM L6.

Jaguar Type 00—A Bold Vision for Future Design

Marking a pivotal moment in Jaguar's 90-year history, the Type 00 concept car introduces a daring strategy to transform the brand into a 21st-century modernist luxury icon.

The design abandons Jaguar's traditional curves and feline-inspired aggressiveness, replacing them with clean surfaces and sharp lines stretched tautly over massive wheels. The car features vertical front and rear panels, butterfly doors, and rear-view cameras hidden behind brass-hinged panels on the sides.

These bold design elements also appear on the wheels, panoramic roof, windshield base, and interior. The first all-new Jaguar EV, a low-slung, coupe-like four-door GT, is set to debut in 2026. While test photos of a camouflaged prototype have been released, Jaguar has revealed limited technical details. The vehicle is expected to achieve an EPA-rated range of 430 miles and offer 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes of fast charging.

Lotus—Ultra-Hybrid Powertrains with Impressive Range

Lotus is the latest automaker to focus on electric and hybrid vehicles. According to Lotus Europe CEO Dan Balmer, the company is actively developing ultra-hybrid versions of its Eletre SUV and Emeya sedan, expected to hit the market within two years.

These hybrids will utilize a 900V electrical architecture for ultra-fast charging, with combined electric and internal combustion engine power delivering a range exceeding 680 miles. The models will likely feature a performance-oriented version of Geely's Thor Power hybrid system, which integrates a combustion engine, electric motors, and multiple clutches to optimize efficiency.

Renault 5 Turbo 3E—A 500-Horsepower Electric Muscle Car

Renault has confirmed it will bring the Renault 5 Turbo 3E into production by 2025, following its debut as a concept at the 2022 Paris Motor Show.

The 5 Turbo 3E features an aggressive wide-body kit, bold lemon-yellow and silver-gray two-tone paint, and 20-inch alloy wheels, exuding muscular appeal. Powered by a rear-wheel-drive dual-motor system, it produces over 500 horsepower, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 3.5 seconds.

This model pays homage to the iconic R5 Turbo from 46 years ago, reintroducing the legendary design with a modern electric twist.

BMW MEV—The Fastest and Most Powerful M Car Ever

BMW is preparing to unveil its first high-performance electric M car by 2026 or 2027. Built on the Neue Klasse platform, the car will feature four electric motors designed and manufactured in-house. These lightweight, compact motors will incorporate water or oil cooling, or both, to deliver sustained high power and torque.

With all-wheel drive, the electric M car is expected to become the fastest-accelerating M model in history, achieving 0-60 mph in under 3.0 seconds. The 800V electrical architecture of the Neue Klasse platform will enable ultra-fast charging capabilities. While details remain scarce, BMW enthusiasts can look forward to supercar-level performance and handling.
